Demand Flow Technology
Steve Botto; Demand Point
Awarded a Nobel Prize in Economics nomination, “Heroes of Manufacturing”
title by Fortune Magazine and the 2007 PACE Award finalist for Breakthrough
Technology, Demand Point has engaged more than 100,000 customers in over 50
countries in the principles of the patented, mathematically-based, Demand Flow®
solutions.
Many companies implement Lean hoping to reach the pot of gold, but many
executive teams are frustrated and puzzled with on-time delivery, overall working
capital, order-to-cash cycles, EBIT performance, and other key metrics remaining
stagnant or only experiencing marginal improvements.
Learn how to overcome these challenges and discuss Demand Flow in the
Plastics Industry, case studies, and avoiding “random acts of lean”.

What does “lean” mean to Philips Respironics
Earle Lockwood, Molly Jelovich, & Eric Kulikowski; Philips
Respironics

Lean was introduced to Respironics in the late 1990's through the conversion
of a batch assembly operation into a continuous flow process through the
implementation of Demand Flow Technology.
This philosophy has continued to evolve and has become an integral part of
Respironics’ operations culture. Respironics is currently developing an overriding
business strategy linking Purpose, Process, and People based on James
Womack's renowned book Lean Thinking, and intends to extend this strategy from
Respironics’ suppliers to customers.
This presentation, coupled with a tour of the Respironics facility, will provide
an opportunity to hear about the positive operational impact that Lean has had on
Respironics, as well as the lessons learned and discussion along the way.

Joint Coatings Society & SPE Meeting:
Understanding Injection Molding & Plastic Flow
Mason Myers; Beaumont Technologies Inc.
By understanding the fundamentals of injection molding through plastic flow &
rheology, part design, gate location, mold design, and the melt delivery system, it is
possible to gain a better understanding of what is really happening during the
molding process and to solve the root cause of many problems. Part quality starts
within the melt delivery system; not the part itself. BTI believes that it is possible to
lower part costs, create higher quality parts, and increase efficiencies without
having to invest in new capital equipment.
BTI offers training, consulting, and CAE services backed by 50 years of
experience in various aspects of the injection molding industry such as product
design and process integration.
