The scope of this SIG covers all aspects
of the joining of plastics and their composites
to each other and to other materials, such
as wood, glass, and metal. This group will
encourage research, development, and dissemination
of information on the science and technology
underlying all joining methods such as mechanical
fastening, adhesive and solvent bonding,
and welding.
Joining of plastics is becoming important
to the emerging structural (load-bearing)
applications of polymers and their composites.
This SIG will provide a much-needed forum
for organizing technical activities relating
to this important area.
