Enhancing Quality Monitoring With Process Models

Abstract

Every injection molding facility aims to achieve zero defect in production. One efficient way of attaining this goal is to integrate quality assurance into the process. Quality assurance in series production uses various methods and measurands. One effective way of quality monitoring is the usage of process models. Process models represent an extended form of process value monitoring, because it correlates key process values to the specified part characteristics. As a further benefit of such process models, part characteristics can be calculated directly and compared with the specifications during the process.

About the Speaker

Florian Pichl is Strategic Business Development Manager at Kistler Group within the business unit Plastics. He studied mechanical engineering with a focus on plastics engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany). For his master thesis he was then appointed and active as a research scholar at the Polymer Engineering Center (PEC) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA). Before he joined Kistler in 2017, Florian accomplished his MBA at University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) while previously gaining international project management experience working for an automotive steering system supplier. At Kistler Group, Florian focuses on the development of the strategic business field Plastics, which targets to support companies with Kistler’s process monitoring equipment enhancing the quality of molded plastics components.
