Long-time SPE Member Clare Leon Milton Jr., Dies at 104

Clare Leon Milton Jr., a chemical engineer and inventor who was among the founders of classical music programming on WBJC-FM in Baltimore, recently died at his home in Baltimore, MD. He was 104. Mr. Milton was active in SPE and had many roles in the Society including that of treasurer.

Next SPE Workshop Focused on AI for Polymer Development

First SPE Workshop in Spanish: Extrusion of Thermoplastics

The first workshop presented by SPE entirely in Spanish will be Extrusion of Thermoplastics. This 6-part series, presented online by Omar Estrada, Ph.D., CEO, sospol s.a.s., will focus on the single screw extrusion process used in plastic products such as films, sheets, tubes, and fibers. The workshop will contribute to the understanding of the detailed operation of the extruder, the causes and solutions of typical problems, the fundamental role that screw design plays and the operating conditions to have a high-quality cast. June 26, June 27, June 28, June 29, July 5, and July 6.
